The Oscars were announced last night, and of course we had another show where they botched the winner of the biggest award.
I rarely watch the actual show; I’m more interested in who won. (Speaking of which, props to our buddy Disco for picking Moonlight at plus-400. She correctly picked four of the Big Six including a nice longshot for best picture).
I have not seen all the movies yet, but of the ones I have watched, Hell or High Water is the best so far. Casey Affleck was solid in Manchester By The Sea and seems deserving of best actor, but I have not yet watched Moonlight or La La Land.
Regardless, these awards will be remembered for the massive screwup at the end. It seems like a pretty simple thing to have the right name in an envelope, but apparently that is not all that easy.
Say Watt? The Texans are excited about the prospects of the defensive line with J.J. Watt’s return.
Stacking the Dekker: The Rockets are shuffling the lineup a little after trading Corey Brewer. Sam Dekker says he is ready to add some minutes at small forward.
Some site news: Houston Sports and Stuff will move into a new era starting March 1. The updates will be done by different people each day, which should make for a more entertaining, vibrant site. Thanks to some awesome sponsors we will be able to make the site even better and provide more perspectives each day. It will also free me up to do more fun stuff as well. Thanks to everyone who has made this part of their daily routine. It only gets better from here.
Self promotion: I did a podcast with the For The Rest of Us folks. It was a blast. If you are bored and have some time to kill, here it is…
And finally, Florida: Dogs mark their territory with pee. This Florida guy does it with poo. Yeah, exactly.
