A few weeks ago, I was talking to my friend Rott about President Trump and the mainstream media. The conversation was about Stephen Colbert, how he’s talking about Trump every night. Colbert is eating and many more in media are as well. I told Rott a lot of media hate Trump’s Presidency but personally they are eating good and love it.
Along with politics and sports, I have an affinity for numbers. TVNewser published an article about MSNBC doing relatively well in ratings, specifically Rachel Maddow.
MSNBC has enjoyed Trump in terms of ratings. It was not too long ago, MSNBC was in the cellar in ratings. MSNBC was the joke of cable news with very little viewership.
As the TVNewser article alluded, MSNBC was hemorrhaging in ratings and then Donald Trump entered the political arena and they received an uptick.
Cable news is enjoying Trump’s Presidency from a personal financial standpoint no matter their political views. President Trump is feeding them. The funny thing is, Trump’s social media behavior makes it so easy for them. All they have to do is activate a Google Alert on “Trump Tweet” or search Trump’s Twitter handle daily, VIOLA, a headline!
Politically and Ideologically, I do not believe most in media care for President Trump but I would be dumb not to realize they are absolutely loving this circus.
It reminds me of Rush Limbaugh and the Clintons. Some believe Limbaugh would not be as big as he is if the Clintons didn’t exist. The logic is, many hated the Clintons and the one unifying voice at the time of Clinton’s era was Limbaugh.
I believe a lot of people in news media will come out of Trump’s Presidency doing well for themselves. Don’t fall for the faux anger, the mainstream is loving Donald Trump, it’s good for business and we are only three months in.
Adios Romo: I am so freaking happy the whole Tony Romo saga is officially over for me. It has been a month of nothing news and speculations that didn’t materialize. I got caught up in Romo mania but at the end of the day I want Jay Cutler. Fred Faour’s article was Tony Romo’s discussion funeral for me.
Hitting stride: I am watching the Astros again and I’m finding out, things get weird “after hours”. After George Springer’s walk off home run, Astro girl started to dance or trip on some brown acid doing the funky chicken.
QUOTE OF THE DAY:
Nothing limits intelligence more than ignorance; nothing fosters ignorance more than one’s own opinions; nothing strengthens opinions more than refusing to look at reality.
