“Hey clear the way in the ol’ bazaar

Hey you! Let us through-

it’s a bright new star

Oh come be the first on your block to meet his eye!

Make way!

Here he comes!

Ring bells!

Bang the drums!

Ah! You’re gonna love this guy!”

Deshaun Watson is a Texan!

Ironically as Aladdin was playing on my littlest ones IPAD, the Texans selected Deshaun Watson last night with the 12th pick in the draft. It wasn’t long after that I was dancing in my living room to Robin Williams blasting throughout my house.  I was ecstatic. I was joyous. But more importantly, I had been wrong for months.

The Texans fooled me. I was mind bleeped into thinking they actually believed in Tom Savage. That they really were going to run him out there to lead this franchise. They had fooled me, and I was pissed.

I, however, had no right to be angry because the geniuses in the Texans organization knew what they were doing all along. So at this time, I would like to apologize to Rick Smith and Bill O’Brien. I would like both to get both an extension and partial ownership in the franchise effective immediately.

For the 2nd straight year, they have swung for the fences in hopes of plugging the massive hole at the quarterback position and I applaud them.

As word starts to trickle out about Brock Osweiler and Bill O’Brien having physical altercations in the locker room, I no longer have any issue with what the Texans had to give up to run his ass out of town. If you still want to hold them accountable for their lack of research on Brock- that’s fair. But it’s Friday and I’m in a good mood- so they get a pass.

If Watson turns out to be a franchise quarterback, who cares what they had to give up. You don’t have a 1st or 2nd rounder next year? Oh well, the Texans 2nd round picks suck anyways…Brooks Reed, D.J Swearinger, Su’a-Filo, Ben Tate… You basically gave up a 1st rounder for your quarterback of the future. If they’re wrong, it’s crippling. But if they’re right, it’s a Yahtzee. The Texans could have easily kept their 4 of a kind and selected Cam Robinson last night. Instead, they picked up the 5th dice and went for it all. They wanted a Yahtzee.

Let’s be clear about one thing. For this off-season to play out like it has, BOTH Bill O’Brien AND Rick Smith had to be in agreement. Ignore what you’re hearing about BOB hating it here and the arguments between coaches and management. There is no way in hell, you can pull off trading Brock, moving up in the draft, and selecting Watson without both of them signing off. This is THEIR guy. Period. They both believe he’s the key to the future.

I’m drinking to them being right.

I hope.
