I cursed Dallas Keuchel

By Lamont Mann

During my first-time visiting Las Vegas, I found myself at a craps table located in Treasure Island.  Ignorantly, I yelled, “Craps!” and then proceeded to receive awful looks from everyone at the table.

Let me back up. Saturday, I called the Ross Villarreal Show to talk about my confidence in the Astros. There was also conversation about Mike Fiers being the scapegoat.

During my call, I expressed confidence in the Astros – and that my only concern was the fear of Lance McCullers or Dallas Keuchel getting injured.  As I was talking, Ross interrupted me to announce that Dallas Keuchel was just placed on DL for 10 days with a pinched nerve. I suddenly found myself in the wake of a self-fulfilling prophecy I had only created moments before that. Whoops?

The good news is, Keuchel will only miss one start (and to all of you Astro fans who wanted to see Brad Peacock, your wish is granted).

Keuchel is known for trying to play through injuries, but what if our 7-0 ace had decided to pitch anyway, despite his lingering issue? And, do any of us know how insane his performance might be upon return?

The bad news is, I fear any and all injuries dealing with nerve damage.

Back to my Las Vegas trip… upon my outburst, a lady next to me leaned over and said, “You never say ‘craps’ at a craps table.”

I have learned my lesson – NEVER speak of injuries involving the greats. Going forward, I have decided to reserve that for Tom Savage.
