First of all, I have to give a shout out to Disco Biscuit for her article this week. I had no idea that the 9-9-9 challenge was a thing, but now I can’t wait to try it! My wife is on board as well, but she insisted that we do it at the house because, according to her, “you’re going to be puking hot dogs all over the place and I don’t want to have to watch you do that onto other people.”
Speaking of food…
I was lucky enough to get an invite to attend a “Meet our Meat” 12 course meat tasting event at B&B Butchers. And let me just tell you, if you ever get asked to go…freaking GO. B&B Butchers is 1 of 2 places in Texas (9 total in the country) that serve real, actual, and authentic Kobe beef. I’ve never even seen Kobe beef before, much less ate it, but it was one of the best things I’ve ever tasted in my whole life. And not only was the “Meet our Meat” delicious, it was educational. Thanks to everyone at B&B Butchers for a great evening.
Look, we all know the Astros are good. We all know they are winning about SEVENTY PERCENT of the games they have played, but just how good are they, really?
Here are some numbers to put it all in perspective.
(Below I’ll list the stat, their actual number and where they rank among the other 29 MLB teams for that stat.)
First the offense:
Runs – 275 – 3rd
Home Runs – 76 – T2nd
Total Bases – 823 – 3rd
Batting Average – ..273 – 2nd
On Base Percentage – .341 – 5th
Slugging percentage – .455 – 2nd
OPS (On Base + Slugging) – .797 – 2nd
Strike outs – 372 – 29th
And your weird offensive stat of the day:
The Astros lead the league in CI (Catchers Interference) with 6. That’s double what the Yankees have in second. A few teams have 1, most have none.
Now lets get to some pitching numbers.
I felt this was also important to highlight because I’ve seen quite a few folks say “now if only the Astros pitching can catch up to their hitting.”
The fact of the matter is, the hitting is just now catching up to the pitching.
Wins – 37 – 1st
Losses – 16 – 1st
ERA – 3.45 – 2nd
Saves – 18 – 2nd
Shut Outs – 5 – T1st
Quality Starts – 11 – T10th
Walks – 163 – T10th
Strike Outs – 523 – 1st
Batting Avg Against – .228 – 1st
Blown Saves – 6 – 21st
K/9 innings – 9.80 – 2nd
K to Walk Ratio – 3.21 – 4th
MORE SPORTS AND STUFF
– This is the worst strike out I have ever seen in my whole entire life.
– If you’ve been living under a rock, then you probably missed Trump’s now infamous “covfefe” tweet:
Well, the fine folks over at the Nerdist put together some of the best covfefe memes.
And here’s the best SPORTS related Covfefe memes
But none of the above are better than Ric Flair’s covfefe tweet.

I have some shows coming up this weekend (June 2-3) at the Joke Joint Comedy Showcase. Show times are 8pm and 10:30 both Friday (6/2) and Saturday (6/3). You can get tickets online here. I’ll be featuring for the hilarious Dave Landau. Dave has been on NBC’s Last Comic Standing several times. He’s one of my favorite comics to watch.
Here’s a video of Dave on Last Comic Standing in 2014:
And here’s a video of yours truly when I opened for George Wallace at the Houston Improv during Super Bowl week earlier this year:
