Astros Astros and more Astros; and other stuff: The update for Nov. 10

When an Astros championship became a realistic possibly, I said I was going to go crazy on Houston Sports and Stuff. Well, I have been too damn excited to sit down and compose any thoughts.  A week later, and I’m ready to go

Below are a few observations I picked up throughout the World Series.

Is the City of Houston Championship’s genetically connected to OJ Simpson?  Think about it, the first time OJ Simpson became big news was during the 1994 Rockets Championship via game five versus the Knicks. Fast forward to 2017, OJ Simpson gets out of jail and is involved in a fabricated beef with Bruce Jenner or whatever her name is.

New York Knicks

Speaking of the Knicks, while the Astros were off in Los Angeles battling the Dodgers in Game 7, the New York Knicks were playing the Rockets.  I thought it was pretty cool because the Rockets vs Knicks played a game 7 and the Rockets won.

Give me back my fans

When the Rockets and the Astros partnered with Comcast/CSN, only 40% of Houston had TV access.  For the three years, the fans eroded.  It also didn’t help that the Astros were bad.  Once the Astros teamed up with Root Sports Network, more fans could watch the Astros but by then the damage was done.  Once the Astros began to turn things around, Minute Maid was still empty and many fans lost interest.

After winning the World Series and seeing Astros all over Late Night TV, Disney World and parades, I wonder if the Astros regained their fans.

Astros Merchandise

Astros merchandise is flying off the shelves.   As we speak, I am $650 in and waiting on 17 orders to arrive.  I bought a damn Astros scarf!  Guess what, if I see some Astros condoms, I’m buying them too.  Seriously, I have never seen so many Houstonians wearing new Astros gear.  I know one thing; Jim Crane’s bank account has to be unbuttoning it’s pants.

Local Economy

Something that has gone under the radar, the Astros Championship effect on the local economy.  There has been so much disposable income ingested back into the economy.  I wonder if Houston did better with the Astros winning the World Series economically than having a Super Bowl in town.

I am tired of this damn story.  The only thing I will say, in the real world, people do not hire people that are suing them.   Kaepernick is suing the NFL for collusion.  In this lawsuit, a few owner’s phone records have been requested.   Good luck assholes if you think someone is going to hire a person who is suing them.  Are we this stupid?
