Not much left this year and in my opinion, not many more exciting games left either. But here are four more for you to feast your eyes upon as you start making plans for your Super Bowl party.
#6 Falcons at #1 Eagles- Saturday 3:35 p.m. CT; NBC
Falcons -3, O/U 41
I heard this was the first time the number one seed opened as an underdog in their first playoff game. Without Carson Wentz I agree with that sentiment. But I won’t discount the Eagles pass rush making a game out of it anyway. With that in mind I won’t give the Falcons a field goal win. I think Matty Ice advances to the championship game but I will bet the Eagles +3. I will take the under here because they still can’t get Julio Jones in the end zone the way they need to.
#5 Titans at #1 Patriots- Saturday 7:15 p.m. CT; CBS
Patriots -13 1/2, O/U 48
In case you didn’t notice; the Patriots covered a lot of spreads this size throughout the year. There were a few misses, but not many. The Titans offense needed a meltdown by the Chiefs to come back from 18 points in the second half last week so I’m not super high on them at the moment. I feel confident that the Patriots will get a big lead and hold it on the way to the win. I’m betting them at this number and also going over 48.
#3 Jaguars at #2 Steelers- Sunday 12:05 p.m. CT; CBS
Steelers -7, O/U 41
This might be a low scoring game because these defenses are legit. The Jaguars have the #1 pass defense this year and have the pass rush to help out the back end. They might not completely shut down Antonio Brown and the rest of Pittsburgh’s speed on the outside but I don’t see this as a shootout game. The Steelers defense should be able to fluster Blake Bortles into being himself and Leonard Fournette won’t be able to carry the load for Jacksonville. But as good as the Steelers are I won’t get them at 7 points. I will go with Pittsburgh to win, Jacksonville at +7 and under 41.
#4 Saints at #2 Vikings- Sunday 3:40 p.m. CT; Fox
Vikings -5, O/U 46 1/2
The last game of the weekend will also be the best. I don’t know how much I can really say. If you don’t already know this is a game between teams with legitimate Super Bowl potential then you haven’t been paying attention and won’t believe me anyway. But Drew Brees has an offense under his command that can win a game on the ground or in the air and the brain to figure it out on the fly. But the Vikings defense is no joke either and might make it pretty difficult on him. Case Keenum has had a career resurgence this year and has led Minnesota to this spot. The Saints’ improved defense can keep the Vikings offense limited but not too limited. I believe the Vikings win with defense but I am betting on the Saints at +5. I’ll go with the over 46 1/2 for the total.
